The new facilities will provide care for 170 children of the San Gaspar Vivar and surrounding villages.

As a result of the United Flavours Dinner organized in 2008 by the American Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce, AmCham and companies associated with Fondo Unido de Guatemala, today inaugurated the new premises of the Mary of Nazareth Nursery in San Gaspar Vivar Antigua Guatemala.

The amount collected during the dinner was Q400, 000.00, which was designed to the construction of four classrooms and two batteries of health services in the nursery and Hostel Hermano Pedro. This project was implemented by the Fundación Albergue Hermano Pedro.

currently serves 85 kindergarten children from 2 to 7 years old San Gaspar Vivar Village and surrounding municipalities. The nursery provides pre-primary education to children from low-income community of San Gaspar Vivar and surrounding villages, and provides control and basic medical services to children attending the nursery, which come from large families and low- resources. The center also provides food to children taking nutritional controls commensurate with the age of the beneficiaries.

2002. Implementation of food workshop for students of the School St. Jude, located in area 13 of the city, in Boca del Monte. This workshop gives students the opportunity to learn a trade, whatever is in their ability to graduate from college.

2003. Construction and equipment of the dental clinic for Hospice San Jose home that cares for children with HIV / AIDS. Due to the fear caused by the infection to other patients, these children had no access to a dentist, so it was imperative and urgent that a place that could provide this service.

2004. Reconstruction of 5 schools in the Department of Chimaltenango, as part of Friends of the School. These schools benefited more than 1,300 indigenous children who currently have the best conditions for studying.

2005. To promote the educational development of the community of Santa Avelina, Cotzal in Quiché. This project implemented by International Helps benefited more than 3,750 people including parents, teachers y niños en edad escolar.

2006. Construcción de la Unidad de Quemaduras Pediátricas del Hospital Roosevelt. Esta unidad tiene como objetivo tratar las quemaduras en niños y adolescentes que se dan frecuentemente en Guatemala y que muchas veces no eran tratadas por la falta de un lugar adecuado para hacerlo.

2007. Construcción del albergue “San Gabriel” con el objetivo de brindar un lugar de alojamiento para personas de escasos recursos en casos de pre y post intervenciones quirúrgicas. Este proyecto benefició a las comunidades aledañas de los municipios de San Pedro, San Juan, San Raymundo Sacatepéquez y otros.

2008. Ampliación de instalaciones en Guardería del Albergue Hermano Pedro. This nursery provides comprehensive education, nutrition and health services to children from 2 to 7 years of scarce resources. Priority is given to the children of working single mothers. The nursery currently caters for 80 children from the communities of Santa Ana, San Bartolo, San Gaspar Vivar, San Juan del Obispo, San Pedro Las Huertas, San Pedro El Alto, Santa Catarina Bobadilla, Santa Maria de Jesus, Alotenango and Antigua Guatemala.
